Victoria Secret the rise and fall
A Market that is unattainable
The ask and why
This Stock Market Project was completed for my Concepts of the Fashion Industry class, where the goal was to learn how business decisions, branding, leadership, and public perception connect directly to financial performance. In this course, we explored the inner workings of fashion companies from supply chains and marketing to executive leadership and brand identity and this project allowed me to apply those concepts to a real-world brand
. By tracking Victoria’s Secret’s stock performance and researching its controversies, leadership changes, and recent rebranding efforts, I was able to see how the fashion industry operates beyond design. This assignment helped me understand the business side of fashion, showing how brand reputation, inclusivity, and strategic decisions influence not only consumers but also investors and the overall success of a company.
Unleashing the Secret
Research
In this project, I discovered how deeply the business side of fashion influences a brand’s success, reputation, and financial performance. By studying Victoria’s Secret, I learned how leadership decisions, public scandals, and brand identity directly affect stock prices and consumer trust. I saw how controversy surrounding executives, outdated marketing strategies, and lack of inclusivity caused major drops in revenue and investor confidence. At the same time, I learned how rebranding, expanding product categories, and promoting diversity helped the company rebuild its image and slowly regain momentum. Tracking the stock data week by week showed me how quickly the market responds to changes in leadership, marketing campaigns, and public perception.
Overall, this project taught me that fashion is not just about aesthetics it is a business built on strategy, financial decisions, and brand management. Understanding this connection helped me see how fashion companies must constantly evolve to stay profitable, relevant, and aligned with their consumers’ values.
Keywords
Keywords
the keywords such as stock performance, market share, investor confidence, leadership scandals, rebranding, lack of inclusivity, and digital presence represent the core themes that shaped Victoria’s Secret’s business trajectory. Tracking the stock market week by week helped me understand how these factors directly influence a company’s financial health. I saw how negative events, such as leadership controversies and outdated marketing strategies, caused drops in stock prices, while positive changes like rebranding efforts, diversity initiatives, and new product launches moments of renewed investor interest.
Monitoring these fluctuations helped me connect real-time stock movements to major business decisions and public reactions. Overall, analyzing these keywords and stock trends revealed how interconnected the fashion industry is with consumer perception and financial performance, showing that behind every fashion brand is a complex system of strategy, reputation management, and market response.
