Surreal Freedom: Season Of Yearning
While I was studying abroad in Florence Italy I was in a group project for Fashion Forecasting. We were told the topic was “yearning”. Our group worked together to see what the big picture consisted of which was the nostalgia of smells, songs, garments and anything that makes you feel warm. Surreal freedom is the way our hearts ache for warmth of summer while we wait in the depths of Winter.
It’s the memories, nostalgia, the sweat dripping down your spine while jumping into the pool to cool down. Warm summer nights, popsicles, hot dogs, a crisp soda. The feeling of summer.

My Role and Purpose
My part in our forecasting final was focusing on the research on who our buyer persona would be. My goal was to identify who this concept would resonate with emotionally, creativity, and culturally. This helped our group ensure that the forecasting direction aligned with the real consumer motivations.
The target consumer profiles we broke down into three categories which were the young urban creative, the social individual, and the optimist.

Color Harmonies
The color story of Surreal Freedom is built around the emotional tension between yearning, nostalgia, and future possibility. The palette merges warm, memory driven hues, with cool tech forward tones, creating harmony that feels both familiar and otherworldly.
Reflection
Reflection and Outcome of Project
Working On Surreal Freedom was a very rewarding project that our group accomplished. Our team received a very good grade that reflected the depth, creativity, and storytelling in our work.
This project challenged us to think conceptually while grounding our ideas in real consumer insights, market trends, and forecasting logic. Collaborating as a team taught all of us to balance different creative viewpoints while maintaining a unified vision. Each of us brought our strengths which was research, concept development, visuals, consumer analysis.
For me I learned that I love researching the trends and researching what the consumer analysis looks like from a forecasting standpoint.
